Biography
Dr Pigeon is a renowned British Psychologist and Psychotherapist whose art depicts the movement of emotion between individuals, whether in a group, between parent and child, in friendships, or between partners.
For a long time, Dr Pigeon searched for a way of communicating her theory visually. Following the death of her father, on a particularly sleepless night, a vision of a visual representation came into her mind. The following day, she set about creating what would become a wholly original body of work.
Her artwork uses spheres to represent emotion and life experience, with arrows to demonstrate psychodynamics and the movement of emotion in relationships. Bright, colourful, and deeply considered, each piece offers a unique window into human behaviour through the medium of art.
Dr Pigeon refers to the movement of emotions between person to person as emokinesis.
About the Art
Spheres represent the emotional world of the individual and their life experiences — the inner landscape made visible.
Human figurines represent people within the work. Their placement and relationship to one another carries meaning.
Arrows represent the dynamics of relationships — the direction, force, and nature of emotional exchange between individuals.
Neatly stacked balls or casings represent emotional containment: the healthy processing of emotions and the psychological resources to cope.
